Verstappen’s race took a turn when he lost third place to Charles Leclerc after a safety car restart on lap 61. The Red Bull driver defended against a Russell divebomb at Turn 1, with both drivers making contact, forcing Verstappen off track. Despite believing he was in the right, Red Bull directed him to concede fourth place to Russell, leading to their clash at Turn 5 on lap 64. Verstappen later expressed his frustration on Instagram, attributing the incident to heightened emotions and the team’s strategy. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of teamwork and hinted at a strong comeback in Montreal.
